As a new university student, in 1969, I saw many great bands doing the student circuit, but Colosseum became my heartbeat! Over 2 years, I saw the band in their first incarnation 18 times, followed their resurgence & this year, JCM. I would never have thought that my heroes would become friends in later life! Jon, & his music, has already been part of my life for 50 years. It will continue to be with me.... Collapse

I was aware of Jon Hiseman, via Georgie Fame, Graham Bond and John Mayall. However, it wasn't until I saw Colosseum, at The Marquee Club in Wardour Street, that I became a lifelong fan. John Mayall, whose band Dick, Jon and Tony, had recently left to form Colosseum, got up on stage and did a few numbers with them. This tacit affirmation from The Father Of The British Blues, was to stand them in good stead. I saw them many times after that and must say, that the amount of pleasure I have derived from live performance and recorded works by these musicians is incalculable. I would like to thank them all and to offer my sincere condolences to Jon and Dick's families and friends. Also to those of all the other Heroes, who have passed over.... Collapse

I saw Jon with Colosseum, Colosseum II, Paraphernalia and the United Jazz & Rock Ensemble. Sometimes we met after the shows or talk via e-mail! Jon was an incredible friendly and warm-hearted man. I missed him but I think he is always around Barbara and his family. Thank you Jon for all and R.I.P.... Collapse

First time I saw Jon was 1970 and feel so glad that together with my friend Lynette Shaw we caught JCM on 10th April 2018 at the Robin, Wolverhampton where we stayed in the next room to him at the onsite hotel. Great gig to remember him by and we had a lovely chat after leaving us with fond memories from one of his last gigs. R.I.P. Jon Hiseman one of the worlds finest musicians and a gentleman.... Collapse

I was very fortunate to meet and interview Jon, who was and will always be one of my alltime heroes, for my radio show, when I saw the band at the London Astoria in October 1999. He was kind, accommodating and extremely interesting to talk to. Paul Williams was on vocals with the band that night - I think Chris Farlowe was doing a gig with Van Morrison. I saw Jon perform a drum solo that completely blew my mind! I still have pics of that magical night!... Collapse

From seeing Colosseum in their early days Jon was a continual inspiration to my drumming - he set a bar that I could never hope to reach but it taught me to keep trying to play better and better. His drumming was forceful and driving but also lyrical and endlessly creative. A man who played the drums very, very well....... Collapse
