Finding the news of Jon's death just today while browsing on line, this being the 5 year anniversary of my dad's death. Also today, by chance, while clearing some space in preparation for an 'at home' life for my family in this Coronavirus pandemic crisis, I found a wonderful photo of Barbara given to me some 50 years ago and signed. It's treasured and I'm so glad I have unearthed it. The story us that when I was a child Jon and Barbara lived next door to my family in Shepperton. I was awe struck by Jon and Barbara and would spend afternoons in their house while they made music. And we'd often hear Jon playing on the drums while we were in the garden. Those times are such happy memories... Barbara... I hope you read this and can remember those times some 50 years ago. Much love on thus special day all round... Xx

When I discovered Colosseum it changed my (musical) life. Thanks, Jon, for leaving Mr. Mayall and calling Dick and the other guys. He was an outstanding drummer and lovely human being. There are not many of his calibre. The memories and the music will live on.

I was completely devastated when I heard of Jon's untimely passing. I had not seen Jon for a good 20 years since I was living abroad until 2018. I will have the fondest memories of Jon as a drummer, friend and mentor. His playing was always a level I could only ever aspire to but it was his character that really shone through - always upbeat (no pun intended!), dynamic, charming, erudite, focused and wise. He rehearsed Colosseum II in my rehearsal room back in the 70s. He was one of my most loyal customers and, if that was not enough, took the huge gamble of taking out my PA system on its first tour. We did 5 or 6 tours with Colosseum II and I personally tour managed three of those tours when Jon's long time tour manager, Alan, fell ill so got to be quite close with Jon. They were magical times, not least for the fantastic music every night. So, so sad that he has gone and I feel devastated for Barbara. Yes, Jon was more than a friend and the abiding memory for me is that he was a true gentleman - in all senses of the word.

I was lucky to see three Colosseum shows in Germany. Jon, you have always been my favourite drummer and I‘m very happy to have a pic of us two. Your Valentine Suite is a masterpiece in rock history. Your music will last for ever.

My brother Clive Burrows used to play in The New Jazz Orchestra along with Jon and many other Jazz luminaries. He took me along to see the band rehearse at the Green Man in Blackheath. I was about eight at the time. I sat behind Jon and watched him play. From that day on I had a fascination with drums and being a drummer. Thank you Jon.
