First saw Paraphernalia at the Bracknell Jazz festival and fell in love with the music. I then happened to see them at Salisbury Art Centre, Hammersmith Theatre and in a pub in Barnes over the years. From Hammersmith I have strong memories of a virtuoso drum solo from Jon with the projection of lighting from behind him. The music is still there as a lasting record of his skill as well as enjoyment of the whole experience. Wishing you well Barbara and all of the family.

One of the outstanding jazz drummers of his times along with Ginger baker. Magnificent solos on Paraphenalia albums.

First heard Colosseum as a teen, I'm 64 now, loved them then and ever since. Thanks for the music.

I went to see Colosseum 4 times over the years and when Jon played with Barbara in Paraphernalia, another 4 times. Loved their music. I once asked him to sign his cd of drum solo's, which of course he did. He said you do realise its all drumming. He will be greatly missed, a truly great drummer and genuinely great person. Sympathies with Barbara

Back in the 80's I played drums in a band called The Elements & Jon was very kind & generous & let us spend the day in his studio recording some demos a day I will never forget. Jon was a great inspiration to me as a young Drummer back then. Superman legend, thanks for the fantastic memories of a very special day in my life, god bless.

I first saw Colosseum whilst in my foundation year at art school at the Bath & West Blues festival in 1970 at Shepton Mallet. I was - as with many others - blown away. Jon on his wonderful double bass drum Gretsch leading the way and such a rich sound from the band. Which began a love affair which has lasted a lifetime. Much later I was privileged to meet John and Barbara, having been invited to dinner and was able to chat drumming with a maestro. Jon's contribution to music and percussion cannot be underestimated. He played with fire, passion and superb technique. And we're all, as players, the richer for it.

An adorable man and one of the world's greatest drummers of all times. He brought loads of pleasure to me.
