I first saw Jon Hiseman and Colesseum play at Loughborough way back when and the memory of that performance has stuck with me since. A great loss to us down here, but up there somewhere I bet there is some great music playing with brilliant drumming. The legacy lives on.

I doff my cap to one of the great rock and jazz drummers and to the founder of one of the greatest bands it has been my privilege to see and listen to, Colosseum. His drumming never failed to excite, as did the music that Jon and his band of virtuosi created. Sadly, I saw them live only a few times, but I very frequently followed Jon's advice and put on the music and turned it down to deafening! Thank you Jon for enriching my life!

Jon Hiseman was the best drummer I ever saw/heard and Colosseum was the best live band I ever saw/heard. The 1971 Live Album is still my favourite album of all time. RIP Jon and I feel sure Dick Heckstall-Smith was waiting to greet you in Heaven.

Ever since i started to play drums seriously in the early 70’s, i have wondered, admired and tried to copy Jon’s style of playing, but as a low flame of the master himself. I was immensely struck by the tragic news of his passing, which has left a chasm in the drumming fraternity.God give peace to you Jon, and thank you for the inspiration.

It was in 1970 when I was 17 that I went to Top Rank in Cardiff to watch Colosseum and I have been a fan ever since. At 66 I still listen to the music. Thank you Mr Hiseman

Just over a year ago since Jon passed away, I’m still finding it hard to believe he’s gone. I was lucky enough to see him live over the years with Colosseum and Paraphernalia, and loved his superb playing and solos. I managed to have a chat with him after one gig, and as a drummer myself, was thrilled to be spoken to as a fellow musician by a drumming hero! He influenced my playing hugely and I’m sure many others. I’ll watch JCM with a mixture of excitement and sadness.

Like so many brilliant musicians you are gone far too soon. I have followed and listened to your music since 1969 when Colosseum use to regularly play the Marquee club in London. The music played by all your group lineups was always excellent and inspirational. Was looking forward to seeing JCM live but sadly this will now be without you but I know that every one there will be thinking of you. Thanks for the wonderful memories which will live on and never fade or die. RIP Jon.

He was always scouting ahead, clearing a way that I could follow. Always ready to give and receive help. A great trainer by example, and a great musician.

You left us too soon Jon but you'll never be forgotten. I loved meeting you on the two occasions at Ronnie Scott's and you truly were one of my favourite drummers.; Fortunately, you live on through the media of recordings and DVDs so you'll always be a part of my musical life.
