Unfortunately, I just heard about Jon's death today and I am still quite shocked. For me Jon was the measure of all things on drums over 40 years - no matter if he performed with Colosseum, Paraphenalia or the United Jazz & Rock Ensemble. Like all fans, I will always remember him and the fantastic concerts at which I was fortunate to enjoy him. Rest in peace, Jon.

Colosseum was my first love. not sure where I heard them first, perhaps on John Peel's show. Anyhow I saw them in the Maryland Club in Glasgow, one of the first gigs with Chris Farlowe. He brought on a music stand! This was on a Vertigo package tour. Very soon afterwards they played at an all night Uni gig in Glasgow. The final time was at the Bingo Hall in Paisley High Street. What a band. I treasure these concerts. And one of their songs will be played at my funeral when it is my time. Condolences to his family and band colleagues. Above all THANKS

This is a sad moment in our lives to lose Jon. My thoughts and love go to Barbara, Ana and Marcus. Jon's energy, talent and drive was infectious and he made me reverent of his incredible giving nature. Thank you Jon for being so wonderful, for filling my life with great aspirations by teaching me what a truly great musician is all about. You will be missed.

I am greatly saddened to read tonight that the outstandingly talented Jon Hiseman had passed away two months ago. I had heard nothing in the media about Jon's passing. My elder son and I have been lifelong fans of Jon's enormous talent, influence and unrivalled musical skills. I feel that there will be many who feel his loss as keenly as I/we do. Our heartfelt condolences to Barbara, Marcus and Anna.

Jon's legacy will live on in some amazing music as I think back to my student days in America in the early 70's when I first discovered Colosseum. The live double album will be listened to by me with a heavy heart. Barbara, I hope you can carry on making more great music in his memory!

Fond memories from 1st Colosseum, when we were all young, to the 90s and 00s band. From Colosseum I was introduced to the music of Neil Ardley and many others. What an astonishing musical legacy from a fine drummer and band leader who, it seems, was held in high regard, both as a musician and human being, by all who knew and worked with him. I'm sure he'll be missed by all, particularly family Hiseman. Rest in peace Jon and thanks for the wonderful memories..

I had the privilege of seeing colosseum at the royal albert hall after buying their albums. I am saddened by Jons death having felt he was going to continue to drive the drums forever. His enthusiasm and fervour for music produced a multitude of bands and never failed to attract virtuoso musicians into his fold of amazing colleagues.I will certainly miss Jon's style of music and I am sure his presence in the music industry will be missed by many. My heart goes out to Barbara, family and his friends.

Just bought Mojo and very saddened to read about Jon's death. Huge fan of Colosseum who I saw a number of times. What talented musicians. Of all the drum solos I have listened to/endured over the years his were the very best. My deepest sympathies to all his family.
