Thank you Jon for great music and koncerts (especially the last one in Vienna Avstria 13.apr.2018 in Porgy&Bess Club with JCM band) I'm a fan of Jon Hisemana since 1969. In my collection are all Lp and Cd. I am very proud to have signed it all for Jon. The most memorable for me is the picture with Jon, Mark and Clem at a concert in Vienna in April 2018.

I'm not a musician or a drummer - just a music fan. I've seen many bands in the last 50 years, but Colosseum were my favourite and Jon was the best drummer I ever saw. Not only a great and talented musician but a lovely man. Always had time for his fans. I will treasure the t-shirt that he gave me at a gig, which he remembered to bring specially. Can't really believe you have gone. But thanks for everything - so sad - you will be greatly missed. RIP Jon.

I first heard Coliseum on John Peels top gear on a Sunday afternoon before they issued their first album I was so enthralled by what I heard I wanted more I purchased their album as soon as it came out and continually played it I first saw them live at the Marquee club in Soho They didn’t disappoint ether ,in fact they were even better live I was mesmarisd by Johns drumming all beautifully timed with the rest of the band and of course Dick playing 2 saxaphones at the same time I started following their gigs all over the country and was never disappointed It was sadness in my heart when they broke up but of course Jon was still playing so all was not lost Coliseum were a band ahead of their time and I think most of his fans including me thought that We were listening to music of the future and even more so to a drummer who to me made ginger Baker look very ordinary When the band reformed in 1994 you would have to think if they would lose any of their style and panache after all those years gone by Oh no none of it they were just as good if not somehow better Even if Chris Farlow could not quite get the high notes as he did before it made no difference to the sound The drumming of Jon was as brilliant as ever In fact I had the same experience as when I first saw them back in 1969 Jon I miss you so much and your wonderful music I still have my happy memories and I still have all your albums To you Barbara and Anna and the rest of your family my sincere condolences and I know Jon will not be forgotten and neither will his music RIP Jon Hiseman rest in peace you will never be forgotten

With Jon’s passing a huge part of my musical upbringing has gone with him. At school in the 70’s my first introduction to his spectacular playing was through ALW’s ‘Variations’. To a kid who only listened to classical and ALW (!) this was a revelation - I promptly looked out the Colosseum II LPs, and the knock-on was a lifelong love of fusion and progressive rock. I was lucky enough to fix Paraphernalia for a gig at Marlborough College, exchanging emails with Barbara and Jon and finally getting to meet two of my all-time musical heroes. Chatting to Jon at the gig I was humbled by his down-to-earth musician-to-musician respect with me as I bombarded him with questions such as “what time signature is ‘Listen To The Plants’ in” (answer - “ I don’t know, but I can tell you how to play it!”). I have my signed copies of Playing the Band and About Time Too as further special memories. Now Director of Music in a senior school, I ensure the youth of today are aware of greatness from the past. In the minibus yesterday, returning from a Music Tour, I played ‘Intergalactic Strut’ over the speakers. As the magnificently detailed, yet rock steady alternating 4/4 5/4 groove filled the bus, the kids looked up from their phones and were engrossed in the wonderful musicianship on display. RIP Jon, and love to all your family. One of the world’s greatest has been taken from us.

So sad to have only just heard of Jon's passing. My condolences to Barbara and the family. I was such a fan in their Paraphernalia years, particularly with Dill Katz and Colin Dudman. Listening to Aliyah live, now, goosebumps...

On Saturday the 22nd of August in 1970 the 5 piece Colosseum played as the main act at the first Finnish ”Woodstock” called Ruisrock. They were awesome and I became a lifelong fan of theirs. I was a bassist but Jon appeared to be my hero number one, a world star from UK. At first I didn't understand why this was, but later I have understood it fully. Of course the whole band and the music was superb but Jon was just above all. At the time I could not possibly imagine that one day I would have the chance to sit in the same small table with him. I did not have that dream but this happened in 2011 when Colosseum played Keitelejazz in Finland where I had the honor to host the band during their 3 day stay. On Saturday Jon said ”It's a lunch time” and we (my wife and me) went for a lunch together with the lovely couple Jon and Barbara. We walked through the city center to one of the best restaurants in town, had the lunch talking about quite normal things and Jon taking good care of Barbara. Since 1993 we had met several times but never like this. For the last time I was in contact with Jon on the 5th of May 2018, so 3 days before the first operation, when I got a message from him to my phone. I won`t tell the content of the message here. Thank You Jon for all nice memories You gave us during about 50 years. Our condolences and best wishes to Barbara, Ana and Marcus.

He certainly left his mark in this world. I’ll never forget seeing Colosseum at their last gig in Shepherds Bush (the only time I saw them). I caught Jon twice this year, once with the Peter Lemer Quintet and later with the fantastic JCM. My introduction to Jon was a clip of a live broadcast of BT Paraphernalia shown on the OGWT back in the late 70’s. I’ve followed him ever since. RIP Jon.

First saw Jon and Colosseum at The Bath Music Festival in 1969 as a 17yr old schoolboy. From then he became something of an icon for me and though we never met, he positively influenced aspects of my life from afar. He has gone, but we can take comfort from the knowledge that his music lives on.

Jon inspired me with his real presence on the drumset. He made me realise just how unique his dynamic playing was. I shall never forget him. The last of the great show drummers of our era.
