I first became aware of Colosseum when "Valentyne Suite" was released. A remarkable record that was different from pop music of that time. The follow-up "Daughter of time" made me aware of Jon Hiseman´s ability to keep a long drum solo interesting! Since then I followed Jon´s different bands and recordnings. However I missed every opportunity to see him play live. That was until Colosseum´s farewell concert at Shephards Bush in February 2015. There I met Jon and the other members after a fantastic concert when they signed records. This spring I was going to listen to JCM in Hamburg but the concert was cancelled. Before these two occasions I had a short mail contact with Jon and he kindly replied to me. Although I never knew him personally I felt Jon was a great man. A serious and extraordinary musician and a real gentleman! He has influenced a lot of people and has made a positive impact in modern music history. It is a loss but the music and memories are with me. I think of his family, friends and band members! RIP Jon!... Collapse
