I was so saddened to hear of Jon's death. Although I was aware of him as a member of John Mayall's band, he first came to the forefront of my attention with Colosseum, but the greatest joy he gave me was with UJRE, a collaboration of musicians that in my view has never in this country received the praise and recognition it deserved. And thanks to modern technology I have also been able to admire his work before Colosseum with the New Jazz Orchestra and Graham Bond. Life can be unfair at times, as he plainly left with so much still to do, but we, as mere listeners, will still be able to remember him every time we play a track on which he plays. Life passes but the music lives on. To Barbara, Marcus and Anna, and his extended family, my sincere condolences. Jon was greatly loved and respected for his contribution to music in his various capacities. If there is any sort of afterlife there is one hell of a band there now.... Collapse
