On Saturday the 22nd of August in 1970 the 5 piece Colosseum played as the main act at the first Finnish ”Woodstock” called Ruisrock. They were awesome and I became a lifelong fan of theirs. I was a bassist but Jon appeared to be my hero number one, a world star from UK. At first I didn't understand why this was, but later I have understood it fully. Of course the whole band and the music was superb but Jon was just above all. At the time I could not possibly imagine that one day I would have the chance to sit in the same small table with him. I did not have that dream but this happened in 2011 when Colosseum played Keitelejazz in Finland where I had the honor to host the band during their 3 day stay. On Saturday Jon said ”It's a lunch time” and we (my wife and me) went for a lunch together with the lovely couple Jon and Barbara. We walked through the city center to one of the best restaurants in town, had the lunch talking about quite normal things and Jon taking good care of Barbara. Since 1993 we had met several times but never like this. For the last time I was in contact with Jon on the 5th of May 2018, so 3 days before the first operation, when I got a message from him to my phone. I won`t tell the content of the message here. Thank You Jon for all nice memories You gave us during about 50 years. Our condolences and best wishes to Barbara, Ana and Marcus.... Collapse
