I first ‘discovered’ Jon in 1978 when Colosseum II exploded on to my TV screen on BBC’s Sight & Sound ‘In Concert’ and it made a significant impact on my pre-teenage brain. In the early 80s, I saw Barbara Thompson’s Paraphernalia on several occasions and that only confirmed what an inspiring musician Jon was. Many years later, I found myself conducting the 1st of several interviews with Jon and, over the course of those interviews, was fortunate to get to know Jon a little better. What I discovered was an equally inspiring man. He was warm, intelligent, inquisitive, enthusiastic, funny, observant, energetic, humble and a man of complete integrity. I feel utterly privileged to have been able to get to know him and spend several hours in conversation with him. I only wish I could have known him longer. RIP Jon. Thank you for all of the great music and conversations.... Collapse
