Jon seems to be part of my musical life, starting mid 60's. I am a guitarplayer and akways wanted to play with drummers grooving like Jon. Jon hold the band together and pushed his bandmates to great solos. And his drum solos were unique.

Jon's legendary drumming speaks for itself....inventive, energetic and master technician plus band leader, producer etc. Amongst the many groups I followed Colosseum were my favourite. I first came across them when I was 13 and ended up collecting all the albums which I still have. Not forgetting Tempest, Colosseum 2 and other collaborations. I also have the solo albums of all the band members such as Dick H-S, Greenslade etc. A creative talent and super guy sorely missed, RIP Jon.

Dear Barbara and family, We would like to send our deep condolences to you all and express our sorrow at Jon’s untimely death - a little late but no matter. Ginnie has known the Thompson family since her childhood, and John has known and worked with Barbara and Jon. We know very well what a wonderful support Jon was and how very much you must miss him. Good luck and best wishes to you all.

I saw Jon play a few times with Barbara in Paraphernalia, he was absolutely awesome, as was the band, and I went away inspired to practise harder to try and attain his mastery of the instrument. He was a true great and will be missed greatly.

I'm 63, and I've known Jon Hiseman since I was 14. It was 1971, I listened to Valentyne’s Suite from a friend: at the time, we loaned each other's albums; I gave him 4 or 5 lp and to his question about what I wanted to hear, I always answered Valentyne’s Suite. Then I went ahead and Jon's plays and collections have become so many, and they still go on: Colosseum II with Holdsworth and Williams, his fills on Things We Like and The Machine Demands…. For 50 years Jon has been in my life and accompanies my existence, why should he ever get out of it? This text is automatically translated from Italian into English with Google translator: I apologize for any errors.

It all started for me after buying an original of Colosseum's 'Valentine Suite' on Vertigo. I am still listening all these years late and am currently working on a comprehensive biography of Colosseum 1 and 2 for online resource The Great Rock Bible. There were many great drummers around but Jon was one of the best, certainly unsurpassed in the jazz rock idiom. He wrote great music as well of course and worked with top musicians. Jon will be sadly missed.

I've seen Jon more than 7 times live in different Bands – e.g. Colosseum, Colosseum 2, United Jazz & Rock Ensemble. Today I got the Information, that he died last year. This makes me very sad, because Jon was the person, who inspires me in an extraordinary way. One of these influences, away from all musical influences: The Arbiter Autotune Drum Kit. Jon Rest in Peace – you are one of the greatest drummers ever. My deep condolence to Barbara and his children. Johannes
