As a young country boy of 15 in 1972 started college in a big city, met with some older friends who collected records, which was quite a demanding endeavour in the time of hard socialism in a communist country. One evening they invited me to their home and played some records for me. Among the few they possesed was Valentyne's Suite. I never heard something similar before and was amazed and hooked for life. I was lucky to be at one of the last of Jon's shows with JCM in Vienna before he passed away. Always remembered!

For me, Jon Hiseman set the benchmark in drumming when I first heard him (on Daughter of Time) in December 1970. Colosseum Live remains one of my top-3 albums. I read everything I could find about Jon in the music media, and my admiration for the man soon equaled my idolisation of the drummer. It was with shock and deep sadness that I read about his passing a year ago. It felt as if I'd lost a friend and mentor I'd never met in person. Rest in peace, Jon Hiseman.

A fantastic drummer who was my hero for half a century. Head of the Colosseum which was a band that has deeply touched my soul. I'm very happy I was present at the farewell concert in London Feb 28, 2015. Thanks for everything Jon. RIP.
A superb drummer, a superb man...a sad, sad loss.

I first heard Colosseum when I was about 13 or 14. I went out and bought "Daughter of Time" and have never lost the feeling that the playing of Jon and the boys gave me.I went on to hear ( buy) all the other records up to Colosseum II. I have sought out tempest, Barbara's l.p.s and the reformed Colosseum. His playing on these recordings was tremendous and inspiring.A regret is not getting to see him play "in the flesh". Sadly missed, R.I.P. - what am I saying - Go make a racket!!

A true English original and a great drummer in all his guises. There is a cruel irony in the fact that the JCM-project became the swan song for Hiseman. But please continue to celebrate the legacy of Jon and his peers! Love from Sweden

Followed the man and bands since 1969. Saw JCM last year at the Stables, I'm gutted.

I first saw Jon play in a famous jazz venue in Frankfurt in the 70s
I didn't know about him at the time. He started with a very fast Bossa Nova which mesmerised me. Having been a "semi-pro" for a few years before, seeing Jon's command of dynamics, made me realise how far I had to improve, to approach his level of playing, and of course, I only scratched the surface of jazz percussion study and playing. Thank you Jon for inspiring me to improve.
